This place is a joke! I scheduled an appointment on Tuesday- I liked the services so I booked another appointment for 45mins on Thursday- they called to change the time of my appointment, none of the available times worked so I asked if we could just change the date to accommodate the facility (when i mentioned this to the manager he told me that i didnt have to agree to the change) Changed the date to this Saturday I called to let them know I would be running late due to traffic. I called again to let them know that I was going to be even later again due to traffice and they told me they would charge me the full price for 15 mins of my remaining time. The manager then offered a later time but due to changing the appointment from Thursday to Saturday I had to rearrange my schedule and was unable to accommodate the new time. I told the manager that he did NOT have permission to charge my card and he said he would regardless bc I was a no show/cancelation. The customer service is horrible, the lack of cooperation is even worse. I can't imagine how they are still in business.

I’ve been going here for years and the massage therapy is great. Definitely go for the treatment vs the ambiance though as it doesn’t have the luxurious spa feel (which is perfectly fine for me). I’d give 5 stars but there appears to be a lot of turnover at the front desk and the most recent hostess was not super professional or welcoming and also was unable to work the system or address my concerns without help from leadership.

2 Year Update: River Oaks Advanced Bodyworks is still going strong. I have gone here for countless massages. I am glad Raidel is still with them -- he is a great massage therapist. The facility has been updated and expanded. There's a larger lobby and common areas now. The facility has been also updated for covid prevention requirements and social distancing and they take all the common precautions to protect themselves and clients. If you want to get therapy from a smaller local company instead of a chain and you are in the area of River Oaks, Galleria, Greenway and Rice Village, this facility is a great option.Original Review from two years ago:Just came back from my first massage at this facility. The studio is easy to find. It is located In an office complex like another previous reviewer said. It is not a grand facility with chandeliers and expensive fittings but this facility has everything needed. The staff are professional. My therapist Raidel was great.It’s hard to work on someone “cold” as in the first time. These first appointments are where disconnect happen. None of that here. Raidel perfectly assessed what I needed. Delivered a massage that had just the right amount of pressure and stretching according to the trouble spots I told him. He asked me how I was doing, helped me with breathing as I tend to hold my breath during massage. He made me feel comfortable, safe, and cared for within minutes. Trust is very important in massage.I got up from the table feeling like a million bucks. Thank you I feel like a new man. I am energized.I am an amateur bodybuilder that is serious about the gym and I needed A thorough full body massage with focus on shoulder pec attachment points and a few sore spots on my back from knots or adhesions.I will book again.Everything at this facility was clean, spotless, smelled great from the treatment rooms to the beds to the sheets and supplies used. Perfect.This is not a mega facility. If you expect to have all the fittings of a full spa with all sorts of creature comforts this may not be your best bet but for me I want treatment from a professional in a quiet, comforting, clean environment. So I got everything I needed.The prices are also fair and competitive with market rates.My followers are used to seeing me be critical about establishments so I will be fair: If I had to make a suggestion I would say having some profiles of massage therapists on staff on the website is a huge plus for us first timers.Thanks for providing online booking, thanks for being open on a Sunday until 6pm and thanks for fitting me in!

I called and had a booking for 2. They remembered I like deep tissue ans remembered me as I walked in to the door. Charged over two hundred dollars and didn’t receive any service what do ever from them. My phone was stolen the day before my original appointment. I called the office many times but no answer on a friends phone. When I finally got ahold of them I was told that I could reschedule and my payment that day would go to my overall balance which I thought was fair. Unfortunately, the day before the new appointment they did not honor their word. This to me was unethical. I had $290 worth of treatments booked and they had already charged me $203. I would then have to pay the original amount for my services which would have been total $493. I am very disappointed with this business. I hope that this isn’t the norm.Thank you for reply this is simply not true I would not have rescheduled my appointment if this was the case. She even spoke with the manager and confirmed with me. Also that’s besides the point I can’t reschedule in time to comply with your rules if the phone isn’t answered. Also very little compassion or understanding has been shown my phone was stolen the night before.In total I was charged $203 which would come to 70% of the $290.

I went for the first time and, upon my arrival I was greeted, asked a few questions then off I went with Carmen my massage therapist who btw is top notch. I had my very first massage ever today! I threw my back out on Tuesday (I’m 23, send help), and had been in such incredible pain for days. I finally decided to go get a massage.The inside of the office/massage studio is extremely comforting and relaxing. You could smell the wonderful oils all the way into the hallway, before stepping in. The ambience was absolutely lovely, with dimmed lights and gentle music. I was glad it didn’t seem like a doctor’s office or medical area. My wait time was only about 2 minutes, even though I was early! I let Isaac know my problem area, and his massage therapist, Joanna, took care of me.She gave me a full body massage with hot stone therapy, was very sweet and an excellent masseuse. Let me tell you, I transcended into a different being during my massage. Mind blowing.Everyone was extremely professional, everything was very clean (the sheets on the massage bed smelled very lovely), and the oils were relaxing and not overpowering. I could tell my comfort and well-being were put first here.The best part is, it reduced my back pain by about 70%! I will 100% be back next week for a follow up 😊

This place lived up to the reviews. My boyfriend and his family gifted me a gift certificate here, and I left feeling like I was on clouds. Joanna was my massage therapist, and she did wonders on my chronic neck pain. I can actually turn my head without pain for the first time in months. First time at River Oaks Advanced Bodyworks and I was very impressed, wonderful atmosphere and polite/professional staff. I felt welcome and at home from the moment I walked in. The waiting area is very comfortable and it is all hidden away in a pretty innocuous building. The comfortable waiting area is barely necessary as the wait was incredibly short as the massage therapist Noe was quite prompt.My first full-body massage went wonderfully. I felt at ease and very comfortable with the massage therapist from beginning to end. The aromas, warmth and dim lights all made the atmosphere perfect for relaxing.Would recommend!

This place is a lil hidden jewel that I lucked up on. We were in search of a last min couples message and with it being our anniversary were hoping to get into a big fancy spa but many reviews didn’t support spending so much money for what many agreed wasn’t the best quality. So instead of looking for a fancy building I began to search for the best quality which got us here. It was my husbands first message and he was blown away by the service. Very polite, attentive, price reasonable, and message quality was 5 star. I will def book with them again when in the area and I recommend everyone try. They are amazing!

I found this place interesting, it wasn't one of the many chains that we have in Houston, so I decided to check it out.The booking process was easy, the receptionist was very friendly and the whole experience felt effortless.I had my reservations trying this new place when you go try a new massage therapist or any new service provider it can go anywhere from a bad, a decent or a very good first experience. I got to work with Minerva and was great! She was very attentive and accommodating to what my body needed. I felt like I got a mix of deep tissue/sport and relaxation at the same time. it all depended on what my body needed.I am happy I found this little gem and I am looking forward to seeing Minerva again!

I've been here about 4 times now and I've seen different people-men and women- and everyone has been wonderful. I always leave feeling amazing. The prices are worth the time and effort you'll receive. They listen to your needs and try to make sure they can help you with whatever your reason is for coming to them. The office staff is courteous and professional. I really appreciated when I received a call telling me one of the staff members was back so I could make an appointment. The online system is great too. Very easy to make appointments but wish you could edit and change appointments there too but I get why this may be complicated.

My masseur was Saralina for my first ever deep tissue massage. I came in from feeling tight muscles around my body (traps/calf’s/quad) from working out/running. She is very good at what she does, and knows how to loosen every area and you can easily tell she has been doing this for a long time. She is very nice and super strong! Highly recommend

I had given up on massages after frequent disappointments at various establishments. However, on the recommendation of a friend I decided to try River Oaks Advanced Body Works and quickly became born again! Itzel was able to isolate and remedy the discomforts in my back and tendons without needing any instructions or guidance as to where my trouble spots were. I highly recommend this spot to you. Whether you’re new to getting massages or ready to throw in the towel with massages that just aren’t cutting it.

This place is incredible. I went for a second time to treat myself after doing a couples massage here with my gf almost a year ago and this was one of the best massages I've ever had. The first time I had Minerva and the second time, Itzel and both were fantastic therapists. The prices are a tad bit higher than the chains but I promise the experience is well worth it. I'd recommend this place over anywhere in Houston for an amazing, relaxing experience.

I have been going to River Oaks Advanced Bodyworks for a couple of years now. They always have great customer service. They tailor your massage to your specific needs. I have had massages other places and none of them compare. The room is so calming and the way they massage you is slow and soothing. My most recent session was with Itzel. She was so sweet and accessed my pain areas well. I was in so much pain and it was causing migraines and thanks to her, I feel so much better!

As a 10 year experienced massage therapist, the 2 therapist I've had here have been Phenomenal!! Its not easy to find a therapist with precision that's effective and healing. This place has it all. The Best massage place I've ever been to. If you have tight muscles and need heavy hands to workout those knots ,then this is the place for you. Patricia is definitely knowledgeable and uses different techniques to pinpoint and work on those tight spots you have on your body. Will definitely recommend to others and come back.

I first came in back in January when I was suffering from neck spasms (unknown causes). I worked with Isaac and though the massage was painful (more like physical therapy) he relieved me from MONTHS of tension. I am in public accounting and was okay throughout busy season. My neck pain was still there just not super intense or got in the way of life. About two months ago I got diagnosed with a torn rotator cuff which was the root issue of my neck spasms. I worked with another massage therapist out in Cypress and did not receive the same results as I did with Isaac. I scheduled another appointment at River Oaks Advanced Bodyworks with Marlene (after reading great reviews) and had another AMAZING experience. It's only been a day but wow she was great and knowledgable about torn rotator cuffs. Not only did she make me feel great, she has a wonderful personality! If you live in pain and feel like you have no hope try out River Oaks Advanced Bodyworks! Though the pricing is high... you are paying for your health! Additionally, they sent me a birthday coupon back in August and let me use it in October- what great customer service! I highly recommend this place and especially Marlene and Isaac!

Had an amazing sports massage, if you are a runner looking for some post race recovery, I highly recommend you this place. My therapist was Marlene she was awesome. I was gifted a 40 minute upper body massage for Mother’s Day by my sister and it was AMAZING!!! Isaac was nice, professional and super thorough. I booked an upper body massage with Isaac upon recommendation from a friend and I was not disappointed. I had a lot of tension in my neck area and he was able to loosen me up through advanced techniques (not standard spa stuff). Additionally he took the time to explain the potential causes and ways to mitigate tightness in the future. Please do whatever you can to avoid this establishment. This is my first every google review and am only doing it because I feel so strongly about this operation. Last month, I called and reserved a 70 minute massage for my girlfriend and 40 minute massage for myself that would begin 30 minutes later so we'd end at the same time. We discussed that I would pay for both at the end. To summarize what went wrong: my girlfriend was given a 40 minute massage instead of 70 (though she enjoyed her massage) and was asked to pay for herself as if she got the 70 minute massage. She asked when I would be done with my massage and they told her I was not there, although I really was. The owner that took my reservation left no notes for his staff. Confused, she walked home thinking I changed my mind and would be at the house. It was a super hot day and when she got home I was not there to let her in and she couldn't reach me, since my phone was on silent. She was insanely worried and scared. After the 4th call to me, the phone rang through silent mode halfway through my (super mediocre) massage....the next 20 minutes were miserable thinking about my sad girlfriend standing outside in the heat worried. I sent 3 email complaints and did not receive a response until I told them that I would post a bad review. I enjoyed meeting the owner that first day and did not want to hurt his business...I wanted to give him the opportunity to make it right. However, when he finally called the owner got super defensive and said that they did nothing wrong and my girlfriend should have known I was there even though his receptionist indicated otherwise...said that she was just impatient and that we did not communicate well. He said that it's not his fault that my massage was not enjoyable after my girlfriend's call since they still delivered the service. He offered to let us come back again at the "first time" price offered on Groupon as long as we paid them directly (in other words cutting Groupon's revenue out). I was shocked. I didn't want anything for free as I wouldn't have gone back anyway...I wanted a sincere apology and/or justification for the awful experience. The conversation got heated and we hung up on each other. I really hope that this post helps the owner realize he cannot treat customers so poorly.

I sent my boyfriend here almost a year ago and he said Isaac did an incredible job. I kept this in mind and when I finally got around to it, booked a massage with him. Or, I though with him. I didn't realize he now has employees and he's not the one doing the massage. The masseuse I had was very kind and lovely, but the massage was just so standard. Basic spa stuff. I explained i had some serious tension in my back and shoulder area and told her I preferred a good deal of pressure, but I left so disappointed and disheartened. I truly was looking for some "bodywork" and I received some pretty whatever back rub. I think Isaac himself must have a great deal of knowledge of massage and can probably do some serious work, which is why I was so disappointed I got a standard massage from an employee. I guess just make sure you are explicit about what kind of work you want done and you could be better off than I was.
